My 27-month-old son has been diaper-free for 13 days. If you have, or have had, or will have a 27-month-old son, you know that this is a big deal. While we are faaaaaaaar from the end of our potty-training journey, I thought I would share some of the things that have worked for us so far.
Equipment
Potty chairs

The BabyBjorn Potty Chair--Buy it! I absolutely love this potty chair. I researched potty chairs for boys and this was hands down the customer favorite on both Target's and Amazon's websites. The bowl sits flat on the chair and does not pinch bottoms. The splash guard is incorporated into the bowl so he can't pull it off mid-stream. It's not too obtrusive, though, that it would get in the way for a little girl. Its simple construction makes clean-up a snap. There are no pieces to disassemble or cracks and crevaces for gross stuff to grow. Hands down, I love this potty chair. And the best part is that I got it for free using a Target gift card I earned on Swagbucks. I will be buying the potty seat for the toilet from the same line because . . .

I hate this potty seat. Maybe it would work okay for a girl, but it does not work for our *little* boy. Total waste of money in my opinion. The only thing worse that we've tried is . . .
this horrible contraption. Cute idea, he totally loves the theme. I, however, hate cleaning up the pee that gets trapped in the rim and spills all over the place when you take it off the toilet. Maybe it's just our little man who manages to do that, but it is yucky.Training Pants

Gerber Training Pants. Love. I honestly attribute most of our success to the fact that he actually gets to feel wet. He does not like having wet underpants, pants, socks, and shoes. When accidents happen, he wants to be changed immediately. In diapers and disposable training pants, he could care less. Once he felt the cotton on his bum, he prefers "underpants" now, anyway. He hates to put on a disposable at night! "No, Mama! Underpants!" Fortunately, we found
these. They feature his favorite cowboy rag doll and space ranger, so he loves them. I like that they have velcro sides for when things get messy. We have a package on hand for car trips and bed time and they're great. No leaks, so far!Remember that every child is different and that my kid is probably the smartest, coolest kid on the planet so what works for him may not work for everyone else. :) These reviews are totally unsolicited and are totally my opinion. I hope this helps as you choose the right equipment for your little potty superstar!
